Welcome to the music of Mark Wilson. I write songs, play bass, sing, and lately... play a little fingerstyle guitar. I am also in the learning process of recording some of my songs (old and new). Hope to have some fun and create some worthwhile recordings. Best of all... "I'm gonna get by with a little help from my friends.'' So... just getting started here... more to come. A special thanks to Mike Shelton for lending his talent to this effort. His leadwork on dobro and guitar is featured on 'Take Me Back', and 'One More Reason'. Oh and one other thing. I don't have the time or intention to make this come out perfect. Hopefully, it's good enough to reward your time listening. Thanks, Mark Wilson K-Vegas, NC

Story behind the song
I wrote about being away and longing to come home again. Yeah I know... novel huh? Thanks to Wanda Tyler for prompting me to write this
Lyrics
I tried to call you on the telephone To say that I’d be coming home Back to the place where I belong in Carolina From the Blueridge down to Cherokee From piedmont towns to the deep blue sea There’s no other place I’d rather be… (Refrain) I’m coming home To the Old North State It seems so long that I’ve been away I’m coming home and I’m home to stay Where I belong in Carolina I miss her small town ways and her southern graces The warm embrace of friendly faces And the smile from those that pass you by to say hello From Asheville to Raleigh, Charlotte to Winston Murphy to Manteo, Cary to Kinston There’s no other place I’d rather be… (Refrain) I’m coming home To the Old North State It seems so long that I’ve been away I’m coming home and I’m home to stay Where I belong (bridge) I’ve got a Tennessee town in my rear view mirror And those Smoky Mountains are getting clearer With each mile this old highway’s taking me home I’m home In the Old North State It seems so long that I’ve been away And it feels so good to finally say I’m home in Carolina Baby I’m home Baby I’m home

Great tune reminds me of James Taylor at his very best.

That's a really beautifully performed song. Love it all the way, from the composition to the playing, the lyrics and the outstanding vocals. It's a beauty, Mark! Cheers, Mike
