A New Country-Rock Sound!
Story behind the song
I've always enjoyed writing story type songs, like painting a picture. I wanted to write a rock song or as close to rock-n-roll as I could get with my country roots. Part of this song is about my personal experience finding an old guitar in our attic, learning to play etc. the rest of the song just fell into place as I wrote.
Song is about a kid that finds a vintage guitar in the attic that belonged to his brother Eddie. Eddie never came back from Vietnam... the kid learns to play, makes it to the top playin' Eddie's guitar.
Lyrics
Eddies Guitar
Worn out strings on a vintage guitar
Beckoning me from the corner of the attic
In my brothers memories from the Vietnam War
If I dug it out Mom would give me static
Still it felt good in my hands, somehow I knew Eddie understands
It was Eddies, Eddies, Eddies Guitar
I got new strings down at the music store
And a few other things I figured I’d be needin’
Picks, a strap, book with some chords
Three days later my fingers were bleedin’
Still it felt good in my hands, somehow I knew Eddie understands
It was Eddies, Eddies, Eddies Guitar
It was Eddies, Eddies, Eddies Guitar
(instrumental)
It was Eddies, Eddies, Eddies Guitar
(Bridge)
The years went by and I made my mark
Right place right time a lucky shot in the dark
Grabbed my 15 minutes of fame
For a moment I heard the crowd screamin’ my name
I had to be a star, playin’ Eddies Guitar
It was Eddies, Eddies, Eddies Guitar
It was Eddies, Eddies, Eddies Guitar
(Tag)
Now I’ve settled down with my wife and my sons
Eddies Guitars tucked away, in the corner of the attic
Eddies, Eddies, Eddies Guitar
It was Eddies, Eddies, Eddies Guitar
