A wonderful blend of smooth jazz, funk, dance and world music centralized through the piano, acoustic guitar and the occasional synth lead..
ALL of the compositions you hear here start with one simple truth - without God, I could do nothing but because of HIM, all this is possible! Each and every effort is a serenade to Him, as I owe Him every song. Over the years, I've learned new things about song composition and have always been willing to push the boundaries of sound. I was trained as a musician and recording engineer as a child, learning to put together melodies when I was only 7 years old. This was at the height of jazz fusion where lead instrumental improvisation was king. Although I was trained early on to read and write sheet music, this improvisation has shaped my writing. Now, I write from my heart. The songs represented here are the culmination of my ventures. Each new song is a lesson in itself as I am a never ending student of music, sound and the new and emerging recording processes. As you listen, keep in mind these are my intimate conversations with God. My conversations are sometimes upbeat, sometimes somber, but never boring. In all, I share these songs so that you may enjoy the music.

Story behind the song
Definitely my style, but my mimicking of Bruce Hornsby's playing style (maybe just a little). Been working on this (and a number of other songs for over a year). This was one of those songs that came naturally. It just flowed. I wrote the basic idea quickly and let it "gel" for a few months. When I came back, the additional pieces came in and the song was complete. It's been ready for a while.

Hello Mr Grant, Firstly let me introduce myself, my name is B-Mize, i'm a hip hop artist. Secondly this genre of music doesn't normally catch my ear but your sound is unique. Not to sound like a broken or use any common cliches. The intro is amazing with the solo piano. My favorite section was probably from 02:18 when the bass synth sounds came in. I agree with everybody else, there are certainly a lot of elements blendid in there. Plenty of different sounds. Very original composition, which is why it stands out! Keep up the great work, and also i like the fact you put the time and effort into creating each unique picture for each track. Nice touch. B-Mize ~~New single "Up & Down" Released~~

Truly a splendid track sir. Lots of interesting elements going on here but the piano is clearly the star. I enjoyed the synth breakdown from 2:00-2:35. Nice piano runs toward the end there. An ode to pianists well received...

Hey nice intro and your mixing is on the one of clean. You have the gift of piano smooth my friend. There is a balance of the keys and the guitar that makes for a nice full sound . I like all the different sounds that come and go to give a dynamic effect to the piece. Good job Cali man.

Arlen, you have the ear and feel for the fine musical distinction to detail that makes your tracks so amazing to listen to. Love the way your bass line flows across the track so naturally. Splendid musical bridge…Lots of really cool elements enhancing the experience. Pristine mix/production and incredible piano work. You are right, when the music is good; it's hard to sit still. I can’t stop moving. Terrific!!!

Great intro that leads you into a very good melodic theme song! ( I got that urge to play along with it..) Nice changes/breaks at ca.2.00 mark that lets the song breed and cool use of instrumentation in the last section. And lovely sound on that piano! Well delivered Arlen!
