Part II of "The Eye of the Cyclone". An 18 minute symphonic epic combining progressive rock and classical music. Got to #1 in its category.

Progressive, melodic, heavily orchestrated rock with celtic and space rock influences
] ');');');. I have privately released two albums, "The Last Druids" (2002) and "The Eye of the Cyclone" (2003). These are, according to one reviewer "progressive rock heavily informed by celtic music", though there are also space-rock influences in the second album. My next album "The Store of All the Worlds" will be released in March 2004. See album and concert reviews in the "Reviews" section. You may see reviews of the albums at the excellent "Aural Innovations" site: http://www.aural-innovations.com/issues/issue22/tombyrne.html and http://www.aural-innovations.com/issues/issue24/tombyrn2.html

Story behind the song
"The Last Druids" and "The Eye of the Cyclone" and the soon-to-be-released "The Store of All the Worlds" are part of a five album concept. I've set the tale in the context of the Barddas, a 19th century compilation of what purports to be the oral tradition of the ancient British. "The Last Druids" is all about loss; The "Eye of the Cyclone" is about trauma and change. The first part of "Eye", "Microcosm" follows an individual as he seeks to come to terms with a shocking event. The second part "Macrocosm" deals with his view of the world after the event. Despite the sombre theme, one reviewer called the album "optimistic", which was exactly the perception I wanted to leave with the listener. Judge for yourself!
Lyrics
If all the world's a stage, Then beneath whose idle gaze Works the action of these plays? Who'd go to see this show, To sit and scratch his balls In the front row of the stalls? And popcorn munching idly stare At the tragic actors' deep despair? Won't You climb on to the stage In a play-stop, shouting rage? Say: "Stop the action! This attraction's plumbed the depths of taste!" I am not my flesh, I am not my blood, I am not my brain, I am not my heart. I am not my pain, I am not my ire, I am not my joy; Not the thought, Nor the dream, Nor belief; Not the bard, Nor the celt, Nor the man. I sprang From Annwn's dark well; Now awake, I have conquered Abred! I have swum the sea, I have flown the air, I have walked the earth, Now I feel the flame - Consuming time and space, Consuming form and place, Consuming rank and name. I am awake! I have sovereignty! I am aware! I AM SELF!
