Trash-pop, guitar rock and melodic miscellany.
Not so much a band as a bloke with a guitar and a laptop, The Smivets deliver a genre-bending blend of pop, rock, punk, prog and many other monosyllables.

Story behind the song
As part of the soundtrack to our 2010 road trip (alongside the perennial favourites such as VMP's "Ass Kisser") we found ourselves playing T-Rex's greatest hits over and over. Now, don't get me wrong, they were a great band and we love them dearly, but those lyrics that we considered wonderful poetry in 1972 are actually, in the cold light of day, complete and utter crap. I was OK with them up until Telegram Sam, but "... Jungle-face Jake, Jungle-face Jake, ah said make no mistake about Jungle-face Jake...", come on. And don't even mention "Metal Guru". What a load of knackers. Sorry Marc. Anyway, "I have never ever kissed a car before, it's like a do-o-or, oh yeah" - Tennyson, no? No but it inspired this lyric. As I said - let's just rock.
Lyrics
Jessie Claire You dyed your hair Your mama doesn't like it But you just don't care Strip strong What went wrong We off to the river But it won't take long Big three Away scot free You run like a bishop But you can't catch me Turn around Don't quit town You made a better fighter As the last man down You might think it's all nonsense And I'd hate to disagree But it was good enough for Marc Bolan So it's good enough for me I've got nothing to offer you By way of cod philosophy So if you're looking for enlightenment I'm sorry, yeah, But you're on your flippin' own Black bear It's not fair You're standing in a line But you're the last one there Fret frown You slipped your crown You tried to ride an alligator Upside down
