It Might As Well Rain Until September

(Carole King cover) This 1962 demo tune was actually written for another artist, but Carole's version became popular in its own rite. I hadn't heard it before it was put to me as a request to sing. (Karaoke BT w/ harmonies; my lead vocals

This is something I'm doing just for fun -- to live out a lifelong dream since the age of around 7 or so when I realized that I could carry a tune (without the use of a bucket!) and it didn't sound bad. Much love and thanks go to those in my SoundClick family (and now beyond!) who helped to encourage/challenge me to spread my wings to try this out and continue to take it to the next level. Without your kind support I'd still be just a listener (not that there's anything wrong with that).

Lyrics
IT MIGHT AS WELL RAIN UNTIL SEPTEMBER ============================== What should I write? What can I say? How can I tell you How much I miss you? The weather here has been as nice as it can be Although it doesn't really matter much to me For all the fun I'll have while you're so far away It might as well rain until September I don't need sunny skies for things I like to do Cause i stay home the whole day long and think of you As far as I'm concerned each day's a rainy day So it might as well rain until September My friends look forward to their picnics on the beach Yes everybody loves the summertime But you know darling when your arms are out of reach The summer isn't any friend of mine It doesn't matter whether skies are gray or blue It's raining in my heart 'cause I can't be with you I'm only living for the day you're home to stay So it might as well rain until September September September Oh it might as well rain until September

I defy anyone to tell the difference between Carole King's version and yours! Your voice is uncannily like Carole's in this one! It's a great song and you have performed it beautifully :)

How nice! I think I remember this song from when Carole King made it famous (even though it must have been a little later that 1962). I think my older sisters had it. Your performance carry it with splendour! The harmony vocals are very good: soft but accurate, really adding just that much volume that harmonies should to the lead vocal, which is rich and very enjoyable already in itself. Mixing levels and effects perfect too!

What nice vocal you have on this. It's right on the spot. Very well done Mary, I really like it. Opps, now the song is over, I think I have to listen one more time. :-)

An achievement how your lead vocal blends in so well with the harmonies. Really like Carole King too, but i think you do this song justice. Great new song from you Mary Clare. Your friend Ben. An add.

A fantastic rendition of a mid tempo pop song by the iconic Carol King. Your vocal style is totally suited for this type of music. Really enjoyed listening to your version. A splendid performance with equally solid production values…continued success.

What a wonderful uncovered gem of a tune to sing! You do it great justice too, Mary Clare. Goffin & Carole King - a great songwriting team (not as great a marriage). Very nice indeed!!!

Excellent job!:) I love it:) You've come up with a very good backing track here and it's ended up as a marvellous job which I hope a lot of people are going to enjoy listening to. So far, from what is already showing on here (below this comment) it's looking absolutely positive!!! Very well done!
