Westbrook is a creative rock band from Rochester, New York. The complete line up was formed in April 2003. Westbrook's original members of the band were Alex Bouknight and Matt Battle. Since both Matt and Alex were capable of playing Drums, Guitar, and Bass, they decided they would get things started on there own with out an official bass player. They wrote many songs, and a few which will be featured on Westbrook's debut CD. Jeff Madison was introduced to the band about a year after Alex and Matt had been jamming and writing songs together. This allowed the guys to pursue and play the songs they had written in the past. At that time the band was thought to be complete, and the name "westbrook" had taken place. It wasn't until they played there first show with the new line up, that they would meet Grant Sharman. The band was amazed with his talent and creativity and knew that he would fit great for the formula of Westbrook's music. About a week later, Grant joined the band and helped to add to the unique style of Westbrook. Once the band line up was finally finished, they were able to expirement with many more styles of music and slowly developed a unique sound. Westbrook's diverse influences help to separate them from many local bands in rochester.

Story behind the song
Band Overboard was actually written about a month before Jeff joined the band. Alex (on guitar) and Matt (on Bass) had done early recordings of the song, which were written over the course of 3 nights at about 1 o'clock in the morning. Once Jeff had joined the band was able to add drums. The song was written for a 3 piece band, but once grant joined the band, we simply told him to do some good pedal effect, and he defiantly pulled that off.
Lyrics
This Black heart belongs, to you (Look down on me, look down on me, we were so free, we were so free) This red rose looks, brand new (Look down on me, look down on me, were on the edge, were losing it) We'll make the best of what's around. We'll make the best of what's in town. We'll make the best of what's around. Because now were all feeling pretty down. This Black heart belongs, to you (Look down on me, look down on me, we were so free, we were so free) This red rose looks, brand new (Look down on me, look down on me, what happened to, you and, you and me) We'll make the best of what's around. We'll make the best of what's in town. We'll make the best of what we have. Because hell were all felling pretty down.
