Story behind the song
My young music partner was about to graduate high school. I wrote the song for him and wrote it look ahead and then looking back on graduation and friends.
Lyrics
Intro. Gone, gone, gone. Gone, gone, gone. Verse 1. Graduation is just two weeks away, Jimmy's really wishing it could be today. The future is not too clear, but you know it's cool. There's lots of changes they'll be coming over you. Bridge: Soon you'll be one, gone, gone. Gone, gone, gone. Verse 2: You'll make new friends along the way. You'll make mistakes and things will go your way. Friends you know you will leave behind. Someday you'll wonder where you can find them. Chorus: They''ll be gone, gone, gone. Gone, gone, gone. Yeah, gone, gone, gone. Gone, gone, gone. Gone, gone, gone... You'll be gone away. Verse 3: Twenty years later you're looking back down the road. Jimmy sure wonders how he made it, how he carried his load. Don't you love them, wonder where they are? Some you'll never see, Summer never went that far. Chorus: You'll be gone, gone, gone. Yeah, gone, gone, gone. Soon you'll be gone. Gone, gone gone. Yeah, gone, gone, gone. You'll be gone away. Outro: Graduation is just two weeks away. Jimmy's really wishing it could be today. End.
