This is my 'cover' of a great song by Be Bop Deluxe. I haven't managed to play the sequenced keyboard part that runs underneath the original played by Andy Clarke of Be Bop Deluxe. Bill wrote some great songs in his Be Bop Deluxe period.
I've always like this song. I bought the 'single' at the time. It was the band's last vain assault of the UK pop charts. Needless to say it got next to no airplay. A pity, as it's a great pop song with lots of interesting guitar parts. It begins with an Ebm to Db vamp. Chorus is F# / C#.
playing a guitar solo in Eb and imitating an Eastern pentatonic scale isn't intuitive..but I got there.
I used my Yamaha Pacifica 612V set on the Neck/Middle position to mimic the sound of the Fender Stratocaster of the original recording.
so yes...like the lyric says... "playing 'modern music' on my Japanese guitars"
