Starting with a solo finger picked acoustic 12 string guitar, building up to a fuller 'band' sound. Leading out with a solo 12 string and snare drum. A Yamaha APX-4-12A electro acoustic, miked with a AKG 1000S microphone. Whistling by yours truly !

Ambient / experimental and sometimes, quieter pieces of music. but that's not to say that things may get louder from time to time . . .

Story behind the song
"The Minstrel Boy" is an Irish patriotic song written by Thomas Moore (1779–1852) who set it to the melody of 'The Moreen', an old Irish air. This is a song that we all sang many years ago when I was at Junior school (5- 11 years, for those of you not from the UK). There's no political, sectarian or any hidden adgenda in me recording this at this moment in time, I've chosen it because I like the beautiful melody; however. . . this song has great significance to me, especially now, for reasons that I can't disclose here. I dedicate this song to the memory of Sarah Bryant; the first UK female soldier to be killed in Afghanistan.
Lyrics
The Minstrel Boy To The War Has Gone The minstrel boy to the war is gone, in the ranks of death you’ll find him His father’s sword he has girded on, and his wild harp slung behind him. Land of song said the warrior bard, though all the world betray thee, One sword at least thy roads shall guard, one faithful heart shall praise thee

Very powerful and emotional piece - I love the way it builds up layer upon layer, and then plays out with the marching band - very deftly done. Amazing 12 string tone too.

I've never heard this song before so it was a special treat to hear this very pretty melody for the first time. First class job on the guitar and the drums, and you've really captured that unmistakable Celtic flavour. Very nice to see that you've made it into a dedication - many of us have been touched by some kind of personal loss due to the various conflicts in our history, and a lot of us have had first hand experience of things that are hard to understand. Music goes a long way to bridge the gaps and heal the wounds. Great job.
