Barber Creek Road
By: David Stewart & Arlis Albritton
Old dog was a barkin when he got home
By the sound he knew there was something wrong
He went in the house and he got a gun
By the light of the moon he saw a man on the run
So he let out a yell and he fired off a round
Then he came from the shadows and knocked him down
With a six foot rope they took his life, made it look like suicide
Out there on BARBER CREEK ROAD
Well the sheriff came out and he cut him down
Closed the case and layed him in the ground
No evidence of a homicide
But the whole town knew somebody lied
Cause rumor has it that they want the old
From a river of gold underneath his soul
And nobody’s doin time for that awful crime
Out there on BARBER CREEK ROAD
CHORUS
They say that crime don’t pay
But tell that to the man down in his grave
Well they boarded up the house and the grass grew tall
Convinced that they had fooled us all
That white collar outlaw band
Has still got his blood on their hands
Now somebody out there knows the truth
And justice is way overdue
Somebody oughta pay for what they did that day
Out there on BARBER CREEK ROAD
I just can’t let it lie he was a friend of mine
Out there on BARBER CREEK ROAD
BARBER CREEK ROAD………..
