Story behind the song
This song is almost all true with the exception of living on the streets. When I lost my Son, I felt lost and all alone. The song was written from the perspective of how I felt at the moment!
Lyrics
The night is cold and black The rain is pouring down The wind is blowin' thru the street Over the cold hard ground With a cardboard box around me And a candle for a light I read a blurry headline From a paper I found last night I saw it all some years ago When I was just a kid Those people livin' on the streets I wondered why they did There was a song the Beatles sang About a no- where man I don't recall the rest of it... Somethin' bout a no where land chorus.... There was a time .... I had it all I couldn't ask for more A pretty wife and family People knockin on my door Tonight I'll try to sleep again Out here in the cold With a cardboard box around me My new home is growin' old So.. tomorrow I'll go a'lookin' Maybe find a better home And maybe find a blanket That'll help to keep me warm (repeat chorus) I used to have a family But that was years ago My wife had found another man.. So... I just.... let her go I raised my little boy And watched him grow into a man He was killed one cold October day.... Now.. I do the best I can Repeat first verse..... to fade
