Story behind the song
Me singing and playing acoustic guitar over the slowed-down beat from Khia's song, 'I Know U Want It', off of her 2002 debut album, Thug Misses, copyright 2002 Artemis Records. In the beginning the listener can hear me playing "There Is a Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths, off of their seminal 1986 album The Queen Is Dead. I had ended up with a lot of extra recording minutes with Derek from an earlier project, and I looped them, and divided them into one bar sections, and looped one bar for two bars, then added another bar and had it loop for two, and so on, and then I recorded over that and put the "I Know U Want It" beat that I had had saved as a loop in there, and distorted it. After the part where I'm singing The Smiths, the song transitions into original lyrics over the sampled beat. This song also contains a lyrical and melodic interpolation of "Fallen Embers" by Enya off of her 2000 album A Day Without Rain. The title of this song is an excerpt from a sentence from Halloween: The Destiny of Michael Myers, a Halloween series fan fiction by J. Smith. While recording some of the vocals, I was improvising lyrics and singing while watching Björk's performance of "Pagan Poetry" from her 2002 Live at Royal Opera House DVD. Lyrics
Reuben Walton: Take me out, tonight, I cannot see here and alive, they rest here, in your car, I--I never never want to go home, because I haven't got one, ahh said, we, of that next, I gem, I sang it because I'm fantasy, of back of the club, I want your mayne, it wasn't here for the darkness of the club, in the darkness of the club/in the darkness of the, club/and the stars, shining brightly for me, in our private galaxy fighters, I've been through a club.../storm in the fry, do not die, goes so hard fast, you might have a seizure/just on me, I long to be up, got of the club/for so long/swiftly made/all were/(Woo! Woo!)/Something to hold on to and he went far, you can go through the/sweetly, don't creep down/come on back to, come on back/stay and stay, but by now he was reach up, we suck/(Woo! Woo!) (Woo! Woo! Woo!) (Sighing) (Woo!) (Woo! Woo!)
