A great little poppy tune from our first CD recently reinstated into our live set after a conspicuous absence.
This song'd lyrics are about another's strength overcoming a situation and wishing you could make it better by being them. the music like most of bateman's music evolved organically (in the case of this track, like many of our best, quite quickly)
You have felt more pain than I thought you would,
You have held more pain than I thought you could.
I should have seen the suffering that you have seen,
No-one can walk down the paths where you have been.
I wish I were you,
I wish I were in your shoes.
Climbing high will always lead to a bigger fall.
When you're on your knees they will always make you crawl.
Can't speak out when your mouth has been firmly shut,
Your light's gone out and all of the strings are cut.
I wish I were you,
I wish I were in your shoes.
