Written in the summer of 1990 on Four Mile Island in the French River. Special thanks to Bob and Helen for the opportunity to be there at that time. I miss you both and think of you often.
Summer of 1990 at the cottage of friends on beautiful Four Mile Island in the French River in semi-northern Ontario. Sitting by the water marvelling at the beauty of the northern lights. Forward to 2021 and seeing the light at the end of the tunnel after too many bridges burned. We go on.
Tonight I sat with a friend
Down at the water's edge
And we watched the northern lights shinning
Away from all the noise of the city that destroys
The peacefulness that this place can bring you
Why is it that we are so bitter when we disagree
And we're so quick to burn our bridges behind us
We can curse ourselves for what's been said
Beat ourselves up until we're dead
But that' not going to help the situation
We can fill our minds up with regret
Think we know that our course is set
And deny ourselves the joy of Love's anointing
I just want to lift my voice
And tonight my spirit wants to rejoice
In the celebration of newfound renewal
In the celebration of newfound renewal
