Man, we studied our butts off to write this one! I've never listened to so much "gospel" music in my life! The results were astonishing!
Haha, one name, Marcus Hummon... I always like to study the works of the best, and learn from them, and I realized one day that the greatest songwriter in Nashville has written more gospel music than he has country! Pretty sure there was a link, so I decided to find tonz of old gospel stuff and spent long nights in study and finally the melody came together. Words were tough though. We spent two VERY long days trying to come up with something not too terribly cliche, that still taught a lesson, without being too "preachy", and kept a positive outlook, despite of the otherwise pittiful life of the story's character. Pretty sure we did it, but maybe you should take a listen...
And her dad stepped in ruined all the fun
I guess some things aren't meant to be
Oh no, but
Chorus
Love's worth livin' if you take the chance,
Take it from someone like me.
'Cause I've played the game, and I've learned the dance,
And now it's so easy to see.
Yeah love's worth livin' when you get your turn,
So don't turn your back on love.
And sometimes you know you're gonna crash and burn,
And it's hard..
But you love and learn!
Jenny was a beauty, she was lookin' fine
So deliberately sat at table nine
So that she could wait on me
So after flowers and candy and a couple dates
She took my heart and served it on a plate
I swore my heart was history
Chorus
Bridge
Been in and out of love a couple of times
Somehow love lost just leaves a broken heart
But through it all I still see the light
Its time for me to make a brand new start
