Story behind the song
Off the west coast of Greece lies the island of Zakynthos.
On its north east coast, away from the frenetic clubbing resorts, is a small town called Alykes, and right on the idyllic beach was a wonderful bar named Buka.
After a strenuous day lolling on the sand or swimming in the sea we would repair to Buka for a cold drink or three to watch the sunset and plan where to go for dinner. It's a tough life sometimes.
The drinks were amazing, the views over the sea unbelievable, and they always played the most fantastic chill-out music. It was a style I wouldn't have listened to before, but I grew to love it.
I tried to recreated the vibe here.
Created for the Coconut Blues Club "Chill Out" challenge, June 2012, this is just a piece of pure improvisation. I tried to embellish it later but ended up deleting everything and just coming back to the first takes.
Don't know if Buka is still in business, but it left me with the best memories.
Two more beers please, frozen glasses...
