Mumble Tree is a hard alt-rock band from Rochester, NY.
Formed in the year 2000 by singer Tom Jones (no, not “the” Tom Jones. That guy's real name is Woodward anyway), who pulled together members of defunct former bands to create an interesting new band. Mike Vorndran from Fiddle While It Burns and Mudslide on guitar, Jon Lundberg from BeOwner on bass, and Joe Bonfiglio from Bones Magee on drums (Jones once vowed, “I will never play with Joe again!” but has since toned down the language of that vow to, “Again!”).
The main purpose of the band is to provide an outlet for the foursome’s angst and agressions through the composition of original music. Recording and live performances were initially secondary to this, but as the band’s music catalog grows the urge to record and play gigs has begun gnawing at the very souls of the band members. The first, full-length Mumble Tree cd, Shut Up and Like It, will be released later in 2004.
Yes, we play anywhere that will have original, hard rock music. "Live music is better, bumper stickers should be issued."
There are many influences that have contributed to the shape and sound of Mumble Tree. Some that pull the band toward a certain sound and others that cause us to move in another direction. The early 90’s alternative sound has been a big influence; bands like Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, and Alice in Chains. Also older classic rock and metal bands like Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles, early Aerosmith. Other bands like Radiohead, Led Zepplin, AC/DC, Smashing Pumpkins, Motorhead, Nirvana, Shudder to Think, Sonic Youth, Everclear, Soul Coughing and Pink Floyd have played their parts.
