Who is Big Chief? Twenty Seven-year-old Big Chief was raised in the turbulent neighborhoods of Lima Ohio (just north of Dayton, which is the 15th most dangerous city in the country). He took up rapping ever since one of his the artists he was producing for was shot dead on the streets of Lima. Since then he has moved from Indianapolis to Michigan, and Michigan to Toledo. His style is comparable to Scar face, Ice Cube, and 2pac. His flows are laced with the everyday struggle of making it in today's society that's full of drugs, guns, and violence. He was introduced to Synbeatz by David "Big D" Berry as a producer, but when Syn heard Chief rap, he knew he had to get him in the studio with the Miztuz. They're chemistry was excellent, and at that time the Mpire label was born.
Synbeatz was then invited to Atlanta by German Wilson, manager for Shorty Red who produced songs for Atlanta artists Jeezy and Gucci Man. While meeting with German and other industry producers, Syn decided it was best for the group to branch off into solo acts, while still maintaining a working relationship under the same label, Mpire. Since then Synbeatz began working on their next album/mixtape, which features Shatt-e and Big Chief as the first solo acts out of the camp, while Nemisis will be working on his own solo project.
On they're debut mixtape (simply entitled "Mpire"), Shatt-e and Chief will be showing off they're skills as solo artists, with appearances from Nemisis and Shayla throughout the CD that is entirely produced by Synbeatz (absolutely no industry instrumentals!). The Mixtape has a harder edge than most of the Mortal Miztuz cd's of the past. They took they're sound back to where it came from, the streets. The Mixtape will be hosted by one of Detroit's top mixtape DJ's, DJ Mase. They plan to distribute 30,000 copies, touching every Midwest and southern state. It will be released first in the Midwest Capitol of hiphop - Detroit. Their first song recorded together,"Crush Em" is set to appear on the Murder Dog Magazine Compilation put together by Scott Bejda. They have been featured on numerous websites. Just type in "Mortal Miztuz" in a search engine and its plain to see the group has the Internet covered. "I've had the opportunity to watch them grow and Mortal Miztuz are definitely ready for their calling. I tell you what, if the majors don't wanna sign these artists from the Midwest, especially Ohio spitters, then they need to buy some tracks from these brothers out here!" -Devon Lewis-T-townmusic.com
"Double M has a commercial appeal you don't normally find in underground artists. Great music and good looks, they just can't go wrong! Look for these guys doing big things soon!" -Debra Miller-Freelance Writer
