There are 4 monkeys who live in this funky house of ours; Steve on Vocals/tambourine/maracas/megaphone, Brett on Guitar/backing vocals, Matty on Bass/backing vocals and Jon on Drums/backing vocals. We got together a few years ago, originally known as 'Sorbet'. We recorded a 4 track EP called 'Our Funky Little World' to keep our loyal following satisfied between gigs.
Since reforming last year after an extended break we decided to reinvent ourselves as 'Monkeyhouse'.Have you performed in front of an audience?Since getting back into the swing of things, we've played at our regular haunt in Merstham and are organising some more gigs in and around the South East soon...
Your musical influences
We have quite varied musical tastes... Brett, the guitarist loves Ska, Everclear and Marilyn Manson. He and Steve both enjoy Barenaked Ladies, Regurgitator and Ben Folds. Steve has a record collection of near legendary proportions and variety!!
Brothers Matt & Jon share some favourite bands, like Red Hot Chilli Peppers and Jamiroquai, although Matt is more than partial to a bit of Chemical Bros.
In a nutshell, Rock, Pop, Ska, Funk, Punk, Metal, Jazz and Easy Listening... We did say varied!!
