Mistaken Identity's debut release "Beautifully Absurd" has been completed and is available for retail purchase through www.ughh.com and www.cdbaby.com. "Mistaken Identity has created a surprisingly solid debut album" that highlights the group's diverse capabilities. The Rockford, Illinois-based group is composed of producer and emcee Soleternity, emcee Tha E.D. (eee dee), emcee and singer Darius, and singer Brian. For more information on the group, visit www.mistakenidentitymusic.com. Featured on this soundclick page is the group's debut release, "Beautifully Absurd," as well as various acapellas and remixes. To contact the group, email Sol at soleternity@hotmail.com
Excerpted from Tim Toule's review of "Beautifully Absurd":
"Produced solely (no pun intended) by Mp3.com veteran Soleternity, 'Beautifully Absurd' is a mix of socially conscious head-nodders and low-riding bangers that could just as easily be absorbed in a smoke-filled coffeehouse as it could in any club setting; but don't get it twisted, there is no getting 'tipsy' on this record, as it is more like a smooth pull of chronic than a Cristal-guzzling fiesta. That isn't to say that M.I. can't get gully, with the bouncy piano-driven 'Tonight's the Night' with it's 'The Light'-esque vocal samples and exhortations for the throwback-wearing contingent to stop 'acting like you don't dance'. Where M.I. shines the brightest are on tracks like the aforementioned 'Revolution' and 'Found Myself', a gritty reflection of the life of the young-and-hungry over an urgent, yet soulful sample-driven instrumental."
"Beautifully Absurd" is produced, engineered, and mixed by Soleternity. Mastered by Rodney Mills (www.rodneymills.com). Album cover design by Ryan Forquer (www.thenaturalists.com/rforquer). Album design photography by Ryan Forquer and Yeti Snowman. Manufactured by Omnidisc, Inc, Canada.Band/artist history
Mistaken Identity is four unique, equally talented individuals interested more in the meaning within their music than the fame music can bring. Comprised of R&B vocalists Darius Lewis and Brian Norris, emcee Ed Harrington (E.D.), and beatmaker/producer Chris McGill (Soleternity), Mistaken Identity have certainly distinguished themselves with their unique sound and diverse background.
Darius and Brian, once integral members of the hit local R&B group “Celsius,” contribute soulfully raw vocals to the group. Their ability to craft enticing R&B melodies to Hip Hop beats distinguishes them from the rest of the R&B market. Veteran emcee ED brings intelligent but universally appealing Hip Hop, and has opening performances for Ice Cube and other notables to his name.
Behind the boards is 17 year old beatmaker/producer Soleternity, who many already recognize from 105.9 WKPO Friday nights, or were one of his 1,500,000 listeners on his mp3.com web page. Recognized for his creative and inspired fusion of R&B and Hip Hop, Sol's music and persona have set him apart from competing producers. Ambition and uniqueness have driven this prodigy to greater accomplishments in 30 months of producing than many musicians achieve in a lifetime, including produced “Sleep with an AK”--a Young Buck (G-Unit) track on Dj Whoo Kid’s S.W.A.T. mixtape.
But more intriguing than any of their individual accomplishments, the group boasts incredible chemistry and work ethic despite having functioned as a unit since only May of 2003. Their debut album, “Beautifully Absurd,” will be a testament to the group’s motivation and raw ability to make great music.Mistaken Identity Interview: March 6th, 2004
