Listen carefully to this first CD by Miranda Sage. You'll hear more than a beautiful voice. You'll hear a woman who uses music to express her own feelings, compelling, honest and touching. You'll hear a gifted singer and songwriter. The songs - from Miranda's own haunting , to a sassy, joyful , to , written for her husband - have two things in common. They're about love, in its many forms. And they're straight from the heart. Music has always been about deep feelings for Miranda. Her earliest memories are about being moved by music, its power to bring tears and express joy. She began piano at five and the clarinet at eight, played with the Victoria Junior Symphony, and was drawn to jazz - and the alto sax - the day her father played for her. She took up the guitar at 17 when she lived on a boat too damp for woodwinds and too small for a piano. Within a year she made her debut singing her own songs in Portland, Oregon. At the same time, she was playing jazz saxophone in nearby Eugene. At 20 her talent took her to Europe and performances in London, Paris, Zurich, Milan, Rome and Athens, captivating audiences with sensitive, thoughtful readings of lyrical originals. Her taped performances were shown throughout Europe. Miranda has appeared on radio and television and continues to delight in live performances, appearing with bands and as a solo performer accompanying herself on guitar. Her training at the University of Victoria and with Jay Clayton, Louise Rose, Sheila Jordan, and Rob Cheramy is evident in her three-octave vocal range and technical ability. But it's her innate feel for jazz, her flair for collaboration with fine musicians, and her drive and gift for making music that speaks to the heart that make Miranda Sage a treasure.
