Band/artist history
May 1, 2005 (Dallas, TX) -- MPH, an alternative rock band from Texas, will release a brand new CD entitled "Better Days" on April 15. The album contains 10 tracks of cutting edge alternative/college rock. The MPH sound sharply contrasts soft, subtle verses with powerful choruses culminating in an aggressive, alternative rock mix with catchy melodies and meaningful lyrics.
In a city inundated with heavy metal bands (birthplace of Pantera and Drowning Pool) the members of MPH felt that Dallas was a missing mainstream, radio friendly, rock act. MPH has filled that void. Tommy Williams, a respected Texas musician, was in a local band in search of a new rhythm guitarist. Adrian Smith, a relocated Canadian, was a rhythm guitarist looking for an alternative rock band. An ad in a local paper brought the two together and they have been the core of MPH ever since. Jeff Stone, a talented drummer and percussionist from Arizona, provides the creative and flavorful rhythmic arrangements. Kevin Perry, on bass, is another local Texan who fills out the bottom end. MPH has been rocking some of the more well known Dallas-Fort Worth venues for several years, not to mention winning a countless number of Battle of the Bands.
"Our sound is somewhat unique," admits guitarist Adrian Smith. "People ask us who we sound like but we dont really have an answer. We end up likening ourselves to our major influences such as Creed, 3 Doors Down, and Nickelback, but we really have a sound all our own. We share the same desire to perform music for a living, to be able to do what we love, day in and day out, to add some meaning to our lives through our music and live shows, and to connect with our audience."
"Better Days" contains radio friendly songs geared toward the mass market. No bubble gum punk rock or death metal mayhem. From the albums magnetic lead single Better Days, to the powerfully patriotic As the Eagle Flies, to the aggressive and energizing Down, and the pure emotion of No Secrets, Better Days marks the breadth and talent of this up and coming alternative rock quartet these are songs that everyday people can relate to. Its an album that will surely survive the test of time.
