So last night, me and my crew were one of 5 acts performing at a Con-Fusion Entertainment show. To start off the night, I payed entry into a very minimal battle were only 5 people signed up (including me). I spoke to the promoter about the battle weeks before hand about how it should be handled, that the winner should be picked by legitimate unbiased judges with an understanding as to what a battle is, because crowd participation ultimately turns out the winner by how many people did you bring out with you, regardless he agreed. Now back to last night, the battle started off with only 3 people, where a 3 way 1 minute a piece battle ensued. I edged the competition and one guy was eliminated until 2 other people decided to jump in and they had to battle for a spot to even out the competition. After the first round, they proceeded back to a couple more live performances. When the next round of the battles started, it was the basic 1 on 1 battle for a minute a piece, but the judging was ass backwards from what we discussed... Then winner would be decided partially by crowd reaction, but there were a few prissy female judges off to the side (who had no knowledge of a battle) The first 2 MCs went up and the decision went to the MC who had the better crowd reaction. Then I went up and edged it, this time I maintained a better crowd reaction, more punchlines, etc.... but the dumbass ditzy judges decided the other guy won it. WTF!? Now I've battled plenty of times and have no problem humbly bowing out of a competition when I know the other MC edged it and show respect, regardless I showed my respect to the other MC. Then I looked at the Promoter who KNEW I have have been robbed in previous battles he hosted because of a biased crowd reaction (the other cat brought more people), even after admitting I should have won it along with plenty of people telling him likewise.... once again he did nothing, after promising me things would be handled the right way Now, after being uninformed that we were only doing a 15 minute set when we planned for a normal 30 min, I mangaged to convince the promoter to give us the extra 15 because another act didnt show. Then 10 minutes into the show, he told me we had to wrap it up soon, and offered my money back from a battle... I said dont worry about the money just let us finish our set, he said ok. Then 5 minutes later in the middle of one of our track Masterpiece he said we were done after that song and had the DJ cut the music.. That was a final straw... So after all this bullshit I'm planning on making sure from now on we will do legitimate HIP HOP SHOWS ONLY.... I'm planning on soon enough organizing a REAL HIP HOP PROMOTION, hosting legitimate battles and getting real MCs to perform for the real Hip Hop heads... IF YOU APPRECIATE HIP HOP AND NOT THAT GROUPIE WATERDOWN BULLSHIT MOST SHOWS ARE NOWADAYS THEN BOYCOTT THOSE SHOWS! ANY TRUE HIP HOP ARTISTS/DJS/FANS/ETC AROUND THE SURROUNDING AREAS......
