Singer/Songwriter Corey Kelly is a classically trained 1st tenor born in the 1980’s in Trenton, NJ. Like most musicians, Corey was introduced to music at a very young age. His father was a musician and once shared the stage with R&B great Harold Melvin of ‘Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes’, and his mother was also a musician. Corey draws influence from R&B legends like; Phyllis Hyman, Teena Marie, Stephanie Mills, Gladys Knight, Luther Vandross, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Brandy Norwood and Tank.
Corey attributes singing in his school and church choirs to preparing him for classical training in college. Though he considers himself an R&B singer, he acknowledges that his roots in performing Gospel music has helped him sharpen his talent in the areas of harmony, ear training, and sight reading.
Corey has performed as a solo artist and/or as part of a choir, quartet, or duo at venues across the USA, even performing at music’s Mecca, Carnegie Hall. Corey has most recently been an opening act for R&B Soul Singer, Eric Roberson. He has performed classical pieces from Messiah, Cosi fan Tutte, Samson, and Carmina Burana, as well as show tunes from Broadway Musicals Porgy & Bess, The Bells Are Ringing, The Wizard Of Oz, Once Upon A Mattress, The Roar of the Greasepaint - The Smell of the Crowd, and Wicked.
Corey is currently an unsigned artist, writing and recording music for his debut mixtape “Hangover”.
