Taking a cue from the legendary Love Parade in Germany, Donny Benavidez (dj treK) has immersed himself in all aspects of the underground dance music scene. What started out as weekend entertainment has blossomed into something that has taken over every aspect of his life.
As founder of Poor Vida Productions, treK been become a medium to connect hip hop artists and fans of bass culture. His primary roles reside in production, composition, and DJing. Coming up at the pinnacle of the DnB scene in Dallas, he grinded out with many of the major electronic music promotion outfits such as: Terminal Entertainment, Covert Operations, and Prototype Industries. He has helped promote and bring in several top drum and bass acts to Texas like Total Science, DJ Rectangle, Future Prophecies, Hive, Photek, Dara, Reid Speed, Mathematics, Vegas, Artificial Intelligence, Stereo Storm Trooper and Glitch of Apparatus. As primary producer for Poor Vida Productions, he has produced full length albums for Dallas' own Enferno and MC Astro.
After a late discovery of skill playing classical guitar, treK made a decision to make music his primary focus. He is currently working on a B.A. in music at the internationally recognized University of North Texas. His work at UNT covers music theory, modern composition techniques, and intermedia art.
