I am a singer songwriter based in Torquay and I record my songs as the Legendary Ten Seconds.
The Legendary Ten Seconds started off as the solo music project of Ian Churchward during the time when he was the lead guitar player of The Morrisons who were featured on John Peel's radio one show back in 1987. In 2013 Lord Zarquon joined Ian's music project and since then various guest musicians and vocalists have helped out in the recording studio. The most recent musician to join the project is Jay Brown who has helped to compose and record a song called the Time Stream.

I am currently waiting for Graham Moores to paint a new album cover for my science fiction theme songs. In the meantime here is the Bandcamp link to my latest album called Churchward Road. It was recorded in Torbay. https://thelegendarytenseconds.bandcamp.com/album/churchward-road This new album is due for release on Spotify and Apple Music on the 7th January 2026. Later on next year I hope to be able to release my Science Fiction/Astronomy themed concept album. This is the list of the songs on my Churchward Road album which were all mixed and mastered by Lord Zarquon 1 Babbacombe Heritage Trail - a song about the Babbacombe area of Torquay 2 Base Metal Into Gold - a song about an alchemist 3 Before Her Time - a sad song 4 Cariad - a song about my pet cat 5 His World is so Bleak - a song about a dictator 6 I Hear You Say - a song about bad news 7 Near But Far - a love song 8 Old Torquay Adverts - a song about the adverts in a 1960's directory 9 Red Rock Ready - a comedy song 10 Rocket Fuel - a song inspired by Andy Baker's Rocket Fuel music resource 11 Rupert Tremaine - an alternative history song 12 The Golden Pathway - an instrumental 13 The Oil Patch Warrior - a song about US oil workers who came to England 14 Torquay Hotels - a song about 1920's Torquay hotels 15 Window Into the Past - a song about family memories In other news Graham Moores has recorded electric guitar for some of the Five Boys songs. This included a song called Leaving India and on Tuesday morning Jay Brown came over to my house and I recorded him playing bass on this song. This tune is about Graham’s grandfather travelling by ship from India to Siberia at the end of the First World War. I have also started to record a traditional folk song called the Constitution and the Guerrierre which is about a naval battle between an American frigate and a British frigate in 1812.

A few weeks ago I came across a rehearsal recording of one of my songs which Lord Z had uploaded onto his youtube channel. This came as a pleasant surprise to me as I have no recollection of this rehearsal and it also sounds rather nice. It was recorded in my basement just before we started recording songs about Richard III and probably around the time that the second version of The Morrisons came to an end. This must be close to when he started helping me with my Legendary Ten Seconds music project. You can hear a rehearsal of my song called Bright Blue Eyes That Shine which is on my Good Fortune album. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWFvjQrulBI

Last month I missed the premiere of a new film about the local music scene in Torbay which was shown at the Palace Theatre in Paignton. The film was made by John Tomkins of Emberlense productions. I contributed to this film by providing John with information about the various Torquay bands I have been part of and known since the late 1970’s. Here is a link to information about this film:- https://www.devonlive.com/whats-on/music-nightlife/gallery/new-film-hits-big-screen-10605600?fbclid=IwY2xjawN2wJZleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETA2WFFZRmYwZ25BZXQ2bnU1AR6t0oO2AgB701e7b26jBOrfDkMFPh5Ui-7jKp8Bne-S4EFr6YJegeZUVP6Unw_aem_RZG04gxS3TaS0mYCO2bfhA With regards to early Tudor history here is a bit of a coincidence both Margaret of Burgundy and Richard of York, also known as Perkin Warbeck died on the the 23rd November. Margaret died in 1503 and her nephew Richard died in 1499. Margaret, who was the sister of Richard III and Edward IV supported her nephew Richard in his attempts to claim the throne of England. She also supported Edward V who is known as the Dublin King. Records of the coronation of Edward V in Dublin were destroyed during the reign of Henry VII. Anyone who still believes the old stories about Perkin Warbeck and Lambert Simnel need to read this:- https://thehistorypress.co.uk/article/solving-the-mystery-of-the-princes-in-the-tower/ On Thursday I attended the latest meeting in St Anne’s Hall of the Babbacombe and St Marychurch History Society. We enjoyed another excellent talk and presentation given by Rosemary Griggs with the help of her husband David. Her talk was about how Christmas was celebrated in Tudor England and this included her husband singing some songs from the Tudor period. Recently the English folk musician Jim Causley had told me about the folk band Isca Fair who I had not heard of before. It came as a bit of a surprise to me when Rosemary mentioned in her talk that her husband used to sing for Isca Fair. He has certainly got a really great singing voice.

My song called One Evening in Northwood about the Richard III Society was included on the Progressive Rock Machine show number 546. This is the link to the website and I was very surprised to see that there is a version of the Beatles I am the Walrus by Leo Sayer! https://progrockmachine.com/

I have been enjoying listening to Jim Causley’s songs and I have recently discovered that he has composed music for some of Charles Causley’s poems. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dznYUfZP30&list=OLAK5uy_l_0ooHNR_Li3Af_t0037L2E65OCVlpyQs&index=2
