Music is everything for Jesse Glendinning. Performing under the name Sketch while producing as Sketchin’ Beats, he’s a completely original hip hop artist out of Kelowna, British Columbia. Having lived overseas for quite a few years during his upbringing, Sketch has been exposed to countless artists and forms of music as parts of other cultures. Now he is finally ready to make his mark on the hip hop/rap community using his lyrical abilities and innovative beats. With inspirations such as Eminem, Machine Gun Kelly, Tech N9ne, and Chamillionaire, Sketch has a refined taste and a deep understanding of the industry and describes his art as an “amalgamation of styles” developed by taking bits and pieces from all kinds of musical artists that inspire him.
Over the years in his career, he has released multiple mixtapes, opened for many of his favorite artists, won second place in a contest hosted by fellow rapper Anilyst, and as a result, Anilyst will be one of the few featured artists on his debut album “Etched n’ Sketched”. When asked why he wanted to keep features to a minimum, his response was simply “This is my first album, and people are gonna hear me, I’m not making a compilation album”. One of his proudest achievements was entering an online contest with 2500 other artists for the Teambackpack’s Online Auditions of 2016. He was chosen along with 600 other select rappers to go to the Mission Underground New York Live Auditions. This experience along with others has given Sketch a fuller understanding of what it means to be a part of the hip hop community—and how he can rise to legendary status.
