In 2005 I had pick up a drum stick and slapped a snare so hard I thought my ears were going to start bleeding. At that very moment music became my passion, my air I breathe, my new found love. In 2008 I joined the United States Air Force to help pay for my college, because I couldn’t afford the school I wanted to attend. Before I knew it my first day in Iraq was February 11, 2009, my son was born on April 12, 2009 and I didn’t get back until September 21, 2009. I missed my first child’s birth what a bummer, I know! All while in the service all I can think about was music, I still had a strong passion to be a producer/engineer which nothing was better than thinking; when I get out I am going straight to school, because all I wanted to be in life was a producer/engineer who everyone respected, because of my passion.
On February 11, 2011 here I was again back into another war, this time I was in Afghanistan. At this point the date February 11, (2/11) felt like another birthday for me, because it’s a date I will never forget for its own reasons. Once my time came for separation out of military service, I was on search to find a school. Now with the backing of the Post 9/11 G.I Bill I had options on what school I wanted to attend. I decided to go with the Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago. All while in the service all I could think about was getting out the service and opening up my own recording studio for R&B, Hip-Hop, and Rap artists within the Midwest, because I knew I was going back to Chicago once I got out.
Here I am at my senior year, I am about to open up my first recording studio called 2Eleven (2/11) Productions. I am a non-profit organization supporting my fellow veterans with the life after the war through music. I do want to focus more on my fellow veterans, while at the same time targeting R&B, Hip-Hop, and Rap artists within the Midwest. My product is something that can speak for itself when talking in terms of product availability, quality of work, involvement within the community supporting and donating to veterans’ charity’s, all while fulfilling my life-long dream.
