I Love dance music. I have been buying records, dancing to and feeling House music even before it was called house music. I am from Chicago and was around when the Warehouse, Music Box and Power Plant were around.
The thing that made these places special is the soul that was in them, that was created by a mindset of making people happy and having a good time. The DJs that spinned all over Chicago from the 80's on knew about mixing different styles of music together to be presented as ONE SOUND. Hearing this great music put together affected me profoundly...so much so that I have been dancing and collecting sounds every since.
From Disco to Funk to Brazillian to Jazz to Soul to RnB to Gospel, there is a unexplainable feeling, a vibration, that you can tap into that is just joyous. I started with Pro Tool and Fl Studio making beats and especially covers to all my favorite tracks to teach myself how to compose and how to listen for proper song structure. Then after that, I just went by feel and intuition to produce my own work, along with more sophisticated cover versions (which I don't sell lol). My sound is soulful but also electro and a little disco-y. I like to call it Cosmic House because I often think of the stars and different universes and nebulas and such when I make my tracks. You can hear it in my sound.
