DJ K1NO is the first young DJ to come from the Soul Candi stable and he is taking the SA music scene by storm. He discovered his passion for music at the age of 6 but at the time, his parents did not have the funds to support his passion for music. At the age of 11 Kino's mother sent an e-mail to various Record Labels and radio stations. They all claimed that it would be way too expensive to support/sponsor him, but one in particular brought their light to his darkness, Highveld Stereo. They team up with Soul Candi Records® and sponsored him with the latest DJ equipment, a DJ Course at Soul Candi's Institute Of Music, and pay his school funds for a year. He has been grateful till this day for everything they've done for him. Kino is now one of South Africa's top DJ's and he is studying the art of music without even out-balancing his school work! His taste in music very much mature for someone his age compared to what a regular teenager listens to.
Kino left Soul Candi Records because they only saw him achieving his dreams as a Dj, but he had bigger plans in mind. Kino is now focusing on the production side of the music industry and he, himself, can say he's doing well. Without the proper studio monitors, an audio interface, a microphone and many other studio equipment, Kino can still do what he needs to but feels that he can do much more with such equipment. Kino might be a well known DJ but none of the gigs he's played at have payed a reasonable amount.
