Born and raised in Kinston, NC, Dexter D'ante Pittman, a.k.a Tae-P, has been singing/writing since the tender age of 5. He started out singing in his church choir and from there on started performing in various talents shows, singing in groups along the way, and showcasing his talents in minor plays. He attended Louisburg College, in Louisburg, NC, where he sung in the Chorale and instantly won over the hearts of the students and staff with his broad range of vocals, but yet a smooth stage personality. He achieved the Musical Soloist Award both of his years at the college. Performing "I Believe I Can Fly" by R. Kelly, as the last act of the Spring Concert, he received a standing ovation, which catapulted him to being the first recipient of the “Outstanding Achievement & Excellence in Music Award”. Writing and singing began as a hobby for Tae. It wasn’t until family and friends started giving him feedback that he was truly talented and that he should pursue music. At that time, Tae began to record little home-made albums at his childhood friend, Corey Lamont Smith’s house by taking instrumentals and making them his own hits. That only increased his hunger and desire to become a recording artist because he wanted the world to see who Tae-P was and what he was capable of. Tae has the ability to light up any beat he comes across, no matter how fast or slow the tempo is. Tae understood that success would not come overnight and that he would have to put in a lot of work. Determined to be successful, nothing is going to stop him from achieving his dream. When asked about the ups and downs he has been through his only response is "I won’t stop until the world knows who I am. God has blessed me with a gift and I will use it". Tae gives you a reason to want to listen to his music. Between his silky, smooth voice, versatility, and his swag which demands attention, Tae-P is a force to be reckoned with. Because of his humble personality and gentleman characteristics, he’s a ladies’ man for sure. Once it’s all said and done, Tae-P will be among the best R&B artists of today. He is the definition of true, good R&B, where a song has true meaning and it’s not just words that someone has written down just to make a hit. His smooth, sultry sound puts you in the mind of R&B great Donnell Jones.
