I've been playing piano by ear since the age of 9. I grew up listening to my father playing for various gospel choirs. I also as a child, had the privilege of learning the saxophone from Kirk Whalum while he was a feature on my Father's Gospel album....123 Psalms. I later played saxophone in my high school marching band.
