Coy Riddle was born in Orlando, Fl. January 26 1978. He grew up in a very musical family. His parents played in country and rock bands through his early year where they took him to all the concerts. In kindergarten is where he got his first taste of freestyle and electro. Universal Skating Rink is where he and his friends began to dance and get a flavor for electronic music. In middle school he began playing in punk rock bands, but it wasn’t until 9th grade that his friend Amber invited him to an all age’s club called “Ultra Violet” that he fell in love with the true dance scene.
His first influence to start spinning records was D.J. Davie-D. After seeing Davie spin at U.V. Coy went and bought a set of Technics 1200’s and began to learn to blend beats, which he still does to this day.
Growing up in Orlando, it was only natural that Coy is a break beat junkie. With influences that include Dynamix II, Davie-D, Dj Icey, R-Fresh, The Wrongstars, and 601, you can see where he gets his unique taste for the music he produces. He believes when it comes to beats, if they aren’t broken they should be.
Coy is not what you would call a social butterfly. He suffers from extreme anxiety disorder which makes it next to impossible to leave his home, unresponsive to medication; the only thing to get him to leave the comfort of home is music. Put him behind a set of decks and you will see what Dj Coy Riddle is truly about, 100% music, obsessed would be an understatement.
Coy began producing music in 2006. One night at a Davie-D show he heard his first tack he had ever made get played in the club. After the show he introduced himself to Davie and they became good friends. When it comes to Dj’s, Coy respects Davie-D the most, after all he is the first to recognize the talent in production and mixing skills. Davie brought Coy from just spinning at house parties to playing in small clubs where he was able to make the crowds bounce with the bass heavy records he plays.
Now days Dj Coy Riddle has been mainly producing music. He found out that to make a true name in music you can’t just spin records, you have to make the music to get respect and make a name for yourself. So for the past few years he dropped out of the club scene refined his ideas of music and now he is back with a new flavor that has people taking notice, but he is still evolving and pushing the limits of what his music is. To listen to his music is looking into his soul, his music truly reflects the emotion he is feeling while making his tracks, he truly puts everything that is inside him into his music.
Coy loves to be criticized for his music because it only helps him produce a better track next time. So if you don’t like what you hear, let him know, he will take your words to heart and put it to good use through his music.
