Long time Guitar player, but never as good as I fantasize being. Seems I am more of a guitar Collector/Trader than guitarist...
61 years old now, but as a younger man in my twenties I would drive 90 miles once a week from Cocoa Beach (where working at the Cape) to Daytona Beach (where I grew up) to take guitar lessons from Ted Connor. Knowing he had taught Greg and Duane Allman how to play as young boys and wanting to play like Duane was my motivation. Went to Seabreeze High School as did Greg and Duane, and watched them practice many times on the schools auditorium stage. These are the days they were the Almond Joys and playing up and down Main Street Daytona. After they played on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, the rest is History. Literally Music History as they invented the Southern Rock & Roll genre.
Love to jam to YouTube Backing Tracks. Nothing has aided my playing more than those tracks and the great how-to's for slick licks and the foundation for it all that I acquired from Ted...
Once at Ted's, my lesson was interrupted so he could take a phone call from Frank Zappa...Thought that was way cool!
