In the Western Occult Tradition, each planet was considered to be a celestial being that possessed their own spirit and intelligence; often referred to as daemons. AGIEL represents the planet Saturn’s ability to manifest new realities, power and influence. It was a fitting name for a vehicle to express the raw energy and power of founding member James Taylor’s early exploration into the occult.
“Music has always been in my heart and it seemed only natural to explore my spiritual nature through this medium. All of the songs written through AGIEL are invocations of experience, raw emotion and spiritual energy.” says James about their music. “When we write a song we throw ourselves completely into the experience and channel that into what you hear on our recordings. It’s a dangerous process of going right up to the edge of reason and still maintaining control of the process.”
Although the music has a dark nature to it and often explores ideas through occult imagery the message of AGIEL has always been one of self-assertion, evolution of consciousness and exploration of the truth; often through the allegory of mythology.
