Artist Biography
Born and raised on East London’s Chingford Hall Estate, Jorrel found his talent in music at his secondary school where he was under achieving in his French lesson. Jorrel was disrupting these lessons especially, the school knew Jorrel was witnessing a lot of violence on the estate he was growing up in a harsh environment and knew he was witnessing a lot of domestic violence at home. The school found favour in Jorrel and they saw that he was excelling in music and allowed for him to spend his time in their newly built music technology room instead of French lessons.
At this point Jorrel passion for producing music, rapping and writing lyrics began to grow. The school saw this and gave him piano lessons for free. Jorrel also was in all of his School drama productions and the Gospel Choir. At this time Jorrel’s music was very UK hip-hop based influenced by an up and coming Grime scene.
Growing up on an Estate in London, in the early years of 2000. Gang culture and grime music become one when So Solid Crew came together. Gang related crime was surging. Jorrel in 2005 found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time and a young man was shot dead Jorrel just happened to be there. Jorrel questioned his future on the estate and decided to leave the gang culture the grime scene and began to find his own path and identity in music.
