William Princeton Wright was born on February 23, 1957 in Kershaw, SC. Prince is the oldest of five brothers. He started out as a drummer at the age of 5. Prince made the drum line of his high school marching band, while attending elementary school. Voted most valuable band student all four years of high school and offered a four year scholarship to South Carolina State College, to join the Marching 101 Band. In his tenth grade of high school, he joined a reputable local group, as a keyboardist, that was known by the name of Pure Fire. Pure Fire opened for numerous major acts that came through the Carolinas. Pure Fire disbanded in 1977 and Prince moved to Manhattan, NY. Working as a musician for hire and a studio musician, while holding down a full time job on Wall Street, he started to indulge more in music production. Taking what he learned about composition through his years in a marching band and worked it into his music production and song writing. In 1990 after touring Japan, Prince signed a record deal with his R&B/ New Jack Swing trio call The Concept on Esquire/Capital Record. He co-produced the album Taint My World. The first single Homegirl, was written by Victor Bailey (Weather Report) and Poogie Bell (renowned drummer). The single landed in Billboard magazine at number 37. Prince has continued to work as the music director
