"The Legend of Lost Colt"
- as told by Rick Fry
A long time ago, a team of young songwriters at the Brill Building went out for dinner and a few drinks before going back to an evening production session with an emerging singer. Their taxicab was hit by a delivery truck, on the way back. The production group waited until late evening before going home and didn't find out what had happened to the songwriters until the next day. The collective spirit of that writing team restlessly walked the earth like a Jacob Marley, for 40 years, because there was just something not right about the loss of all their potential songs. Finally, at a time when the artistry and exuberance of the Brill mentality was at its lowest ebb in nearly every kind of new music, that collective spirit found a home in a band of musicians who resonated on the same level of cosmic vibrations. This could be the background story of Lost Colt ..or maybe not...
...
We are a merry band of musical outlaws living, writing, recording and playing in Ottawa, Ontario. Lost Colt plays a wide mix of acoustic and electric country, folk and rock 'n' roll. Influenced by the renaissance in country music, both commercial and alternative, and with three songwriters in the band, Lost Colt evokes Roy Orbison, the Cars, Blue Rodeo and the Blue Shadows.
