THE SEIFER(Cypher)-The Biography--
The Seifer didn’t begin life envisioning himself becoming a successful lyricist and MC. Born in Bedford Stuyvesant, he grew up listening to Hip-Hop all his life, but never thought about actually being apart of it. As a child, he was very much into Art and Design and had dreams of initially becoming an Artist. After going through countless trials and tribulations, he and his mother moved to the Red Hook section of Brooklyn when he was 11 years old. As he got older, he became more attached to Hip-Hop and really started to appreciate the culture. After middle school, he attended Edward R. Murrow High School where he found, developed, and shaped the flow of his craft. It was here where his first experiences as an MC occurred and it all began. Seifer started rapping when he was 15 years old, and after a few Hip-Hop battles, he quickly realized how much he loved it. Later on, he pushed himself to enhance his lyrical skills as he became a member of the Hip-Hop trio “C.B.T” (Can’t Be Touched). While still a member of the group, he found himself entering countless talent contests and showcases, where he and his group members tried to push themselves to the next level, which they soon did. Soon after, the group going in different directions creatively, and after a few disagreements personal and business wise, the three soon went their separate ways to pursue solo careers, although no love was lost. It was at this point that Seifer was really able to let go and experiment with his style and mold himself into the MC he wanted to be. In October of 2004, The Seifer made an appearance on “B.E.T’s 106 & Park’s 1000th Episode”. This is the hugest episode of the show’s history to date, and it was here on Freestyle Friday where he made a huge impression. He completely shut down the current champion of 6 wins, destroying his chances of going down in Freestyle Friday history. The show’s hosts AJ & Free said they had never seen anything like The Seifer’s victory because the champ just gave up without a response. With that said, he was being compared to the underdog B-Rabbit (Eminem from the movie 8 MILE), where he lyrically destroyed the champion and he just gave up the microphone. The televised event fueled his love and hustle that much more. Fortunately for him, the end result would pull him closer to fulfilling his dream of becoming the MC, lyricist, composer, artist, and entertainer he was born to be. Working toward his goal, The Seifer was blessed with the opportunity to be a specially invited guest performer at "The Legendary Apollo Theatre " in Harlem NYC for the "Sac Aides Foundation First Annual Red Cross Tribute", were he delivered a very strong performance to open the show. With his own blend of charismatic yet lyrical style of Hip-Hop, The Seifer also gives credit to his inspirations and mentors. He acknowledges his musical influences such as Jay-Z, Nas, Eminem, Rakim, Twista, the late greats Notorious B.I.G, Big Pun, and Tupac Shakur.
The Seifer is determined to focus on handling business as usual with his vast and complex word play, and versatility. Like the ones who paved the way before him, The Seifer is concentrating on being considered one of the greatest lyricists of his time and wont stop until this is achieved.
