Mark Chatwin attended the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam from 1980 – 1982 for Piano/Voice. Orange Coast College in California from Fall 1982 – 1984 for Vocal Performance. And finally the Dick Grove School of Contemporary Music for Composition from Fall 1984 – 1985. Mark’s working career began in 1986 when he became a staff member of the Dick Grove School of Contemporary Music as a piano accompanist for the Vocal Program. By 1988 he became a teacher at the school creating classes in Vocal Harmony and Improvisation. In the early 1990’s Mark was a freelance musician in Los Angeles producing albums for artists, performing at venues as a Piano/Vocal act, and a cruise ship entertainer on Princess Cruise Lines. In the 2000’s Mark moved to Syracuse with his wife and started a family. Mark’s songwriting career includes a song co-written with Robin and Judithe Randall, “Slow Down The Night”, released on UK performer Mark Free’s first album. A song written by Mark, “Freedom Of The Snow”, was featured on Jeep’s Passport To Adventure’s “Spring Fling In The French Alps” episode. Another song "Coming Around Again" was featured on several episodes of Jeep's "Passport To Adventure". Mark Chatwin has been instructing in the Syracuse area for 10 years now. Currently lessons in voice, piano, guitar, bass, recording, and composition are offered on a private basis. In addition recording, mixing, and mastering services are offered.
