When Phoenix McKee was 8 years old he used to go on small road tours with his mother and her band called The Saddletramp Band where Phoenix started getting his first taste of the music life and where began singing. During Phoenix's first tour experience Shirl and her band played at the Eagle's Club. Shirl's drummer Terry Spade put Phoenix on his lap while on stage and guided his hands playing the drums with the band. Phoenix got paid that night although it was his first experience so he would see what its like to be a paid musician. Since then Phoenix was always determined to play music. Terry Spade passed away two years later on his way to a gig. In 2004 Phoenix began playing bass guitar and was so determined to play, he learned his chords in 3 days and you could see Phoenix even playing in his sleep. It wasn't long until Phoenix joined a band called "Sweet Nothings" where they jammed and played for friends. In 2005 Phoenix played bass and sang back vocals on the CD called "Sweet Nothings". Soon after the band parted Phoenix was invited to join the band called "Steel Tears". Phoenix got his first real taste of playing in public. Phoenix began singing and playing at nursing homes, Senior Centers and local parties and began growing from there. Phoenix was signed to Progressive Edge Records in April of 2012 where Phoenix continues to write music, books as well as singing, performing slam poetry along with playing bass and recording with various artists such as Secret Enterprise, Shirl Spencer among many others.
