Born Jason E. McDaniel, Sr, Jay Byrd was raised in a musical family. His father's side were singers & his mother's side were musicians.
Born & raised in the California Park neighborhood of the West End of Louisville, Ky, music was a vent, as he calls it, his "Own Personal Diary".
Starting off as a rapper he learned to become his own producer due to the fact no one would make him any instrumentals, teaching himself on a Triton keyboard left by his older cousin whom was called to duty for our country.
Making music in his bedroom lead him to name the music he produced Byrd'z Nest Productions in which he'd always remember the struggle, disappointments, & place he come from.
Heir to Kentucky's R&B Throne, Jay Byrd finds peace in humbled keys, soothing strings, & meaningful bass lines. Learning how to listen to Jazz music lead him to making instruments talk without words.
Moving from record label to record label, Jay Byrd finally found a home with 2013 Kymp Kamp Award winning label Strapp'd Entertainment leading him to the title of Executive Producer.
Starting a movement entitled "The Ky R&B Takeover", in his home state, Jay Byrd's main goal is to bring R&B back to the state of Kentucky.
