Artist Biography
The Hip-Hop industry is always in need of that fresh new artist to be found and change the way of the game as some have done before them. In this case, South Carolina’s hottest Hip-Hop recording artist, 9N has been lurking in the shadows waiting for the perfect opportunity to kick in the door and do so.
Alec J. Ninan (born February 18th, 1987) was raised in a less fortunate and broken household. With his mother being addicted to an assortment of drugs and father never around for a lot of his childhood, 9N, as most kids was forced to find things to do on his own with his spare time. At the age of 9, 9N found his mothers collection of records and figured out how to use her record player. Starting off by just listening to the records. In an attempt to do what he saw DJs do on TV, 9N began scribbling the record needle back and forth on the record to make a scratching sound that he loved all too much. This starting what was to become years of love and passion for Hip-Hop music.
Three years later he got his first tape player and began trying to rap over the radio and tapes. Less than a year later, he was riding around with some friends and got pulled over by the police. Needless to say, 9N and friends had some drugs in their possession and were all charged with simple possession. After being belled out by his grandmother, 9N got home and went straight to his room and played one of his favorite tapes, by NWA, ‘Straight Out of Compton.’ 9N grabbed a pen and paper and wrote a rap about the events that had just unfolded, this becoming the first rap that he’s ever written. Now, years later, and with a nearly perfected craft, 9N is still doing what he started so many years ago!
9N has a one of a kind style with a sultry voice, smooth flow, and an “always on time” delivery that the ladies flock towards as if he were an R&B singer. 9N’s style has been influenced by a wide variety of artist ranging from earlier artist such as, Frank Sinatra, B.B King, and Odis Redding, to later artist such as, Jay-Z, Outkast, and Eminem. With a Blues type soul and a Hip-Hop mindset, 9N is built to change the way people think about Hip-Hop music forever.
Hungry but never eager to bite into a poison apple, 9N has been searching for the perfect record label to sign him that can do as much for him as he so very well knows he can do for them. “Some people will do anything for a deal, I’m not one of those people! I’ve been thousands of dollars in dept; I’m not trying to become millions of dollars in dept. That’s a hole I don’t want to try to climb out of,” says 9N. Hints why he passed up a chance in October of 2004 to sign with, Universal Music Group, around the time of there split from the film studio.
Recently, 9N has been working on a lot of mixed tape projects and a new album, ‘Poison With A Sweet Aftertaste.’ The album is very personal to him, but very related to fans and future fans personal lives and relationships. 9N feels that people have experienced many of the same things that he has, so he has kept that in mind during the making of this album. 9N insist on having full control over his album. The way he does that is by writing all the lyrics and producing all of the album tracks himself.
Booking new shows and tours very soon, 9N is definitely the name to keep your eyes and ears open for. He is on a steady climb from the bottom to the top at a very rapid rate, spreading from the South, the East coast, and soon, he’ll be known nationwide then worldwide. Articulate, driven, and very smooth, 9N will soon seep out of your speakers into your ears, from your ears to your minds, from your minds to your souls and stay there unforgotten by you, and to make a mark in the history of Hip-Hop music forever…
