Channel Jamil acquired an ear for music at an early age. By 12 years old he began learning how to produce beats on his keyboard and record hip hop tracks. Up until 18 years of age he had only been self taught and decided to go to college to further advance in the studies of music
theory and classical piano. Having a family backround that consist’s of musicians and singers it didn’t take him long to excel in the arts while quickly becoming classically trained and able to read and write music. He gradualy started honing his craft and developed several unique styles and techniques which enables him to adapt to any genre of music.
As well as being gifted in the arts, Channel Jamil also learned about the technical side of it when he later transfered to the Institute of Audio Research in 2006. There, he became well-read in the practice of Ear Training and Acoustics, and Audio Engineering. During his experience at I.A.R. he took part in starting a production group under the name of SoundTeckZ and became reaffiliated with childhood friends who had formed a group called N.G.R. “The Next Generation of Rap”. With new found technical knowledge and a small roster of artist’s they put together various projects that gave them a buzz on the local scene and made other local artist’s take notice of his production.
