IYA... Born April 22, 1985 as Michael Alexander Johnson, took a liking to music at an early age. He was influenced by his older brother, with ten years separating the two, It was only right for little brother to idolize big brother.IYA, wrote his first rap in 1993, at the young age of 8, but it wasn't until 1998 that he would consider pursuing a career in music. Armed with a $99 drum machine, $99 Keyboard, and a karaoke machine, he took to the lab to start honing his craft. By the new millennium IYA was ready to start on his journey to greatness. Along with two childhood friends, they formed a group known as M.O.B. Between the years of 2001 and 2004, IYA produced and co-wrote four full length albums. 2006 IYA reached out to Dj Wiz, and along with a few other local artists, they came together to form I-75 All stars. From 2006 to 2009 IYA recorded two albums with I-75. Feeling like Dj Wiz had taken him as far as he could, IYA severed ties with I-75. While still recording and producing for various artists, IYA had the opportunity to meet two business men, who grew up in the same town as he had. After hearing his music and recognizing his potential, IYA was signed to 820 Ent. His goals in the music industry are to continue making quality music, without compromising his character in doing so. IYA is also working towards launching his on label 1215 NEW LIFE Inc., by doing so he can provide opportunities for others who lack the means, or the exposure needed to be successful in the industry, as he once did. IYA has recorded over 100 songs throughout his career, and has no plans on slowing down. When asked what the future holds for his career, he replies " Only God knows".
