H.P aka Drum-Addick was born and raised on the hustle heavy southside, or "da souf " as a they call it, of Houston (H-Town) Tx in the neighborhood of Hiram Clarke. He is the youngest of three kids. His roots go as far as "The Ivory Coast" of Africa, known due to his father researching and tracing their family back 7 generations. His parents originate from Mo-Town, and moved to Houston in 78 away from all family influence, comfort, and anything that resembled what they felt was normal.
Once they got settled in his mom joined and became the lead singer of a band called "Splitting Image". Since he was only 3 he traveled with them and was at many of their practices and rehearsals. Unknowingly to him, this instilled his passion and excitement for music.
He played the Tenor Sax at Shadowbriar Intermediate in the 6th grade, was a star basketball player, and once he literally did a frontwards flip over 7 students as they laid flat side by side on a padded mat in P.E class.
Star basketball in high school, and in college at Paul Quinn College in Dallas TX. He formed the duo "Head of Tha $taff" with Diction their senior year in high school (1999). They did a ton of shows in Houston at different clubs, college campuses. Their biggest accomplishment was when they appeared on Paul Wauls Bobby Booshay Vol 1. with another young Houston artist by the name of FoulMouth. They also opened for Fabolous in Ottawa Canada and shot the video for Birthday suit ft Slim(112) in Toronto.
