We are Checkered Reality. A Pop Punk/Pop Rock band from Ashby-De-La-Zouch, England. The band was started by Andy Buchanan (Rhythm Guitar, Lead Vocals) in early 2010. After writing quite a few songs, he recruited Katie Wood (Drums) and together with the help of one of Andy's family members, they recorded their first EP entitled "First Things First!". Afterwards, Josh Stanworth was recruited as Lead Guitarist, and the three of them played semi-acoustic sets during the summer of 2010. Rhys Sweeney (Bassist/Backing Vocalist) joined the band in the August after their acoustic gigs. Josh left the band as Lead Guitarist after the gigs, and was replaced temporarily by Tom Emery in the September. Rhys and Tom have since left the band.
In March/April 2011, Paul Jackson (Bass) and Kyle Love (Guitar) joined the band. The line-up remains the same. By the end of 2011 Checkered Reality are expected to have released a new EP and to have played both acoustic and full band shows, depending on whether they can find a drummer or not. Paul and Kyle both had to leave the band to focus on their other projects.
As of June 2011, Keilan Braithwaite and Holly Spencer have both joined the band, and also a lead guitarist and a drummer are currently interested but are yet to be announced as official members.

Checkered Reality would like to prompt you all to support a charity called The Sophie Lancaster Foundation. Sophie Lancaster’s life was taken from her on 24th August 2007 when her and her partner were attacked by a group of male teenagers in a park in Lancashire for being “different” due to their choice of dress and musical taste. As a band we strongly believe that when incidents like this happen, the rock/metal/alternative community manage to come together to fight against all of the haters out there. We all show support and respect for each other when it is needed. Hey Guys! :) We know it’s been a while since we last messaged you, so here’s a quick update on what’s been happening. The band line-up is complete! All of us are now learning the songs so that we can get gigging asap, and we hope to record a new song which will be released as a single hopefully in the near future :).
