Heavenly gift from God is what one can expect to experience when blessed with a performance from 25-year-old old singer/songwriter/producer Demetrius “D smyth” Crawley. Poised with talent, determination and charisma, the Chicago/Rockford, IL producer began his career in music at the age of seven, and like many musicians, at home and in church. Through the years, D Smyth was exposed to the various areas of music--voice, production, and musicianship. Later on, he studied music theory and jazz composition at Lincoln university. D Smyth dedicated time to honing his craft until he reached a point of mastering them all including becoming a great pianist as well as a prolific song writer.
D Smyth discovered the depth of his relationship with music and decided to take a leap of faith when he was 12 to pursue his passion. After nearly two years of grinding it out in the studio, D Smyth found himself hitting the stage as a keyboardist with the likes of artists such as Lakeside, Marvin Sapp, Smokie Norfol, Destiny's Child, Cherish, D4L, Ray J, and Jon B. To date, he has collaborated on projects with several all star songwriters and producers including Omarion. Now at 25, D Smyth is a dynamic musical director, producer, and songwriter becoming a local star of his hometown. Now he is ready to show his production and songwriting ability to the rest of the world.
D Smyth looks to musical influences as Russell Simmons, Berry Gordy, Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Clive Davis, Antonio L.A. Reid, Babyface, J. Moss and Tank as examples for guidance in his career. He says, "I have so much respect, love and appreciation for her (music). I always lose control when I'm creating; it's an overwhelming feeling. When I attempt to gain control, that's when I lose it. Get ready, I'm about to take this thing back to real music. Real music is the weapon of the future."
