DW Gill has been a member of Blues Prophets-Blue Flames-D and A Blues Band-Blue Phantoms-Old Blues Cats-One Last Swing-Tino and the Cruisers-The Vipers- Big Daddy Doug and Lil DW Slim- DW and the Twisters- Blues Train and West Side Heat. David “DW” Gill was born in Rockland, Maine on April 30, 1954 at 2:30 AM. He was given a harmonica at age 13 and bought his own Hohner “Marine Band” at Joe’s Smoke Shop in Waterville. Across the Kennebec river in Winslow, he hung out up in the billboard signs by the train tracks, playing for hours. DW’s harmonica, vocals and songwriting have brought him here, there and little bit of everywhere. He has performed for all ages, while maintaining a traditional Chicago, Cajun and Zydeco flavor. His solo performances are bluesy, upbeat and tasty as a smoked turkey leg. The Old Blues Cats teams DW with Doug Wainoris on guitar and vocals for a Blues Duo setting. Together Doug & DW have worked with Muddy Waters, James Cotton, Eddie Taylor, Otis Rush, Koko Taylor, BB King, Stevie Ray Vaughn and a host of other Blues people. DW now leads his DW Gill Blues Band and is collabotaring with other NE Blues celebrities on a variety of original projects.
